Monday, October 22, 2007, El Cerrito, CA -- FFE Software, Inc. announced immediate availability of FirstSQL/J Enterprise Edition, Version 3.10 and FirstSQL/J Professional Edition, Version 3.10. The Enterprise and Professional Editions are full featured Object/Relational Database Management Systems (ORDBMSs). Both products are available through our Download Page.

FFE applauded the new release as an important step in the continuing improvement of the product. Version 3.10 offers enhanced optimization capabilities, IPv6 support, compatibility improvements (including for the Synchronization Service), increased functionality for Flash mode and other features.

3.10 Details
The new Version 3.10 includes the following enhancements:

• Improved Optimization -- in use of indexes and in handling of complex queries,
• IPv6 Support -- IP Version 6 addresses (see RFC 2373) allowed in host specifications and URLs using RFC 2732 format,
• Compatibility Changes --
  • Common core functionality for Enterprise, Professional and Embedded Mobile (Now Released)
  • Removed use of methods deprecated in the Standard API for conformity with J2ME and future JSE versions
  • Forward compatible with future FirstSQL/J versions
  • Compatible with Synchronization Service (Beta Available), and
• Increased Functionality for Flash Mode -- full meta-data for mode=flash, with accessible system catalog and support for java.sql.DatabaseMetaData, plus Flash mode databases with Version 3.00 capabilities (Triggers and Constraint Enhancements).
• Additional Usability Facilities -- FROM clause enhancements, changeable location for temporary files (also needed for databases in readonly media), bug fixes and more.
